The Hetrick-Martin Institute (HMI) is continually working to make the world better for LGBTQ youth. HMI believes that all young people, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, deserve a safe and supportive environment in which to achieve their full potential.
HMI provides education, advocacy, arts, and cultural programming at Harvey Milk High School which is located directly above Juice Generation's Astor Place location. We're thrilled to be partnering with HMI on several initiatives to support local LGBTQ youth ages 13-24. In addition to implementing a nutrition awareness campaign that encourages access to and knowledge of healthful foods throughout the school year, we worked alongside HMI's youth members in a Job Readiness Training (JRT) program to create a special juice – LOVE IS LOVE! This hydrating and refreshing summery blend of Lemon, Ginger, Blood Orange, Turmeric, and Q-cumber is available in all stores through Summer 2018 with the proceeds going right back to HMI.
We've created opportunities for students to learn about everything from juicing, proper food handling, and flavor profiles right down to designing the packaging, and working alongside our creative team on marketing initiatives for launch, giving students a firsthand opportunity to 'grow back' to their community!
